Bodegas Fernando Castro is congratulated. The world´s largest wine competition of the International Organization for Vine and Wine, and the most prestigious in Germany, has valued the quality of our wines with 5 new gold medals.
Viña Lastra Selecto, Finca Los Altos Tempranillo Reserva and Gran Reserva, Venta Real Gran Reserva, and Gran Videva Crianza, were recognized in the last Berliner Wine Trophy.
In addition to our well-known aged wines, we highlight our two new jewels:
Viña Lastra Selecto, a wine from Tierra de Castilla category, has stood out for its attractive and luminous cherry purple tone, and its intense fruity aroma with balsamic and milk chocolate notes. Sweet tannins and balanced acidity stand out on mouth, making it very pleasant.
Gran Videva Crianza, a DOCa Rioja wine, highlights for its intense red color with high layer and garnet hue. Aromas of ripe fruit stands out, with notes of cinnamon and cloves, resulting in a round wine, balanced on the palate, with good acidity and an elegant ending.
The 25th edition for Berliner Wine Trophy was more complicated than usual due to the pandemic. After some delays and postponements, a group of 150 expert wine judges could reunion with strict sanitary measures during 11 tasting journeys in order to evaluate more than 8.000 references of wines. Every year, tastings are carried out under the patronage of the OIV and supervised by the International Union of Oenologists, which makes them considered one of the most controlled wine competitions in the world.
